Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your pre-registration and interest in the
"X-RAY AND RADIO CONNECTIONS" workshop. This announcement focuses on the
registration process and preliminary program.
The meeting will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA) from Tuesday
February 3, through Friday February 6, 2004. The meeting and hotel
registration are now open through our web pages, and abstracts for
contributed papers can be submitted there as well.
All information presented in this announcement, as well as the text of
the previous announcement, is also available in an updated form at the
meeting web site: http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/xraydio/
Please share this information with colleagues whom also might be
interested in this meeting.
This meeting attempts to close the gap between observers that study
high-energy phenomena at different wavebands. It will provide an
opportunity to review underlying physical models, compare X-ray and
radio observations, start new collaborations and develop a list of
areas where new observations and theoretical development could
significantly advance our understanding in the next few years.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTED PAPERS
Participants who wish to contribute are invited to send in an
abstract for their presentation through the meeting web page
abstract form (deadline: Wednesday 10 December 2003). Posters will
be an integral part of meeting and will get maximum exposure. In
order to provide time for discussion, there is a limited number of
slots for contributed oral presentations. The proceedings will be
published on-line and archived through ADS.

REGISTRATION
Due to the venue size attendance at the meeting is limited.
Pre-registration is NOT a formal registration. Registration for the
meeting and meeting hotel are separate steps and must be made using
a VISA or MasterCard credit card. You may wish to follow these
suggested steps:
Apply for an US entry visa if you need one - this can take MONTHS to
complete! Note that the rules have changed recently, also for the
visa waiver program! See the meeting web pages for more information,
or check http://www7.nationalacademies.org/visas/
Register for the meeting by completing the meeting registration
form and fax it with your credit card information to NRAO. Early
registration (at USD 350) ends on Monday 1 December 2003, late
registration will cost USD 400. The meeting registration form is
available on the meeting web pages.
Register for the hotel. The 'Hilton of Santa Fe', the venue of the
meeting, offers a reasonable price (including taxes about $110 for
single and $145 for double occupancy) for downtown Santa Fe. This
rate starts three days before the meeting starts and is valid until
three days after the meeting. If you want to join the VLA tour, you
should be in Santa Fe on Sunday evening already (1 February 2004).
There are several ways one can make a reservation at the Hilton, all
summarized on the meeting web pages. As the discounted rate only
applies to a limited block reservation, we suggest you book the
hotel as soon as possible and before Monday 1 December 2003. If you
are looking for a roommate to share the cost, contact
xraydio@aoc.nrao.edu as soon as possible.
Submit your presentation abstract by Wednesday 10 December 2003
using the abstract submission tool available on the meeting web pages.
Sign up for the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope tour using
the meeting web pages VLA tour sign-up form by Tuesday 20 January 2004.
TRANSPORTATION TO SANTA FE
Santa Fe has a small airport and is mainly serviced from
Denver. However, it is more likely that you will fly to Albuquerque
(ABQ), which is at about an hour's drive South of Santa Fe. Overseas
participants usually have to switch planes to clear customs at
another airport before arriving in New Mexico - make sure you have a
valid US entry visa for the USA. Both Santa Fe and Albuquerque
airports have rental car companies and shuttle services. More
information will be provided on the meeting web pages in the future.
