Dear colleagues attending X-Ray and Radio Connections,
We are looking forward to seeing you in Santa Fe in 10 days. Some last
information:
- PLEASE submit your talk as soon as possible -- at least by Saturday
January 31. We will make every effort to make sure that your presentation
displays correctly on our computers/projector but presentations will be
checked in the order they are received and it will be difficult to process
100 submissions at 11:25 PM Saturday night. We will have both an iBook and
a Windows PC projecting. Procrastinate no longer -- limited last minute
corrections can be made at the meeting. Files should be submitted to
ftp.aoc.nrao.edu/incoming/xraydio. More instructions are at
http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/xraydio/upload.shtml
- Can you de-acronym GPS, CSS, FSRQ, PWN, MHD-SPH, and QSF? Please keep
in mind while you create you presentation that since this meeting covers 6
topics 5/6 of the audience is not in your field. Please define and explain
the terms used in your presentation. If possible, please avoid red letters
on a blue or green background (vice versa), blue and black idem, to make
sure the last 20 % of your audience suffering from color blindness will be
able to follow your line of thoughts. It is better to use yellow on blue or
black backgrounds. Graphs with small colored dots are also difficult for
them; different symbols are better, preferrably black on white. If in
doubt, ask your local color blind colleague for advice.
- Poster presenters are urged to prepare and submit a single powerpoint
slide for their one-minute poster advertisements. More information about
how one-minute poster advertisements work is at
http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/xraydio/posters.shtml
- The schedule is now on the web at
http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/xraydio/program.shtml
Note that we begin at 8:15 AM Tuesday February 3. Registration is
available 7-9 PM Monday February 2, and coffee and registration 7:30-8:15
AM Tuesday morning.
- Santa Fe is at 7000 feet/3218 m. The nighttime temperature has been
as low as 17 F/-8 C -- it will be beautiful and sunny but it will be cold
at night. Please bring warm clothes. We also encourage you to drink plenty
of water since dehydration is a issue.
- The phone number of the conference hotel is 505-988-2811. Should you
need to reach us in an emergency please leave a message for Kristy Dyer or
Lorant Sjouwerman.
See you in Santa Fe!
