Uploading presentations and contributions for the conference proceedings

Latest update: 26 Sep 2008 [11:49 MDT]

Information on presentations at the meeting

During the meeting posters will be displayed prominently, and there will be an occasion to advertise your poster during a 'one minute presentation' talk. When you supply us with a (powerpoint) slide summarizing the poster we will also try to put it up in a slide show that will run in the breaks or in a separate corner in the poster room.

We strongly encourage the conference speakers to upload their presentation in advance (see below) in order to check whether we are able to display the presentation properly on our equipment. Poster presenters are also asked to upload their 'one minute' slide. Please before 31 January 2004. Limited last minute corrections can be made at the meeting.

All powerpoint contributions will be made available on our web site shortly after the meeting.

Conference proceedings

The conference proceedings will use a Latex (or MS Word) template and be archived online. They will be available from the meeting website for at least three years. After three years the full text proceedings will be archived at ADS. Copyrights are retained by the authors. In order for ADS to produce an index for the proceedigns, the deadline for submission is Friday 30 April 2004. While late contributions may be accepted for the meeting website, they will not be archived on ADS. The suggested length is as follows:

Reviews (30 minutes): 10-20 pages
Talks (15 minutes): 4-8 pages
Posters: 2-6 pages

The conference proceedings will be published by NRAO, and be published electronically only. Abstracts of the papers in the conference proceedings will be available through ADS at the time of publication. Editors of the "X-Ray and Radio Connections" proceedings are L.O. Sjouwerman and K.K. Dyer (2004). We suggest to reference papers and the volume as, respectively (in LaTex):

Template files

Templates with instructions for the conference proceedings in Latex are available as UNIX tar.gz and MS zip archive files. All files can be downloaded separately here. Please submit/upload your proceedings contribution to our ftp area (see below) before Friday 30 April 2004.

Uploading your files

Please prepare your files with your last name in the file name (e.g., 4.16_sjouwerman.tex, 4.16_sjouwerman_fig1.ps, etc.). The abstract number can be obtained from the abstract book, by asking xraydio@nrao.edu or from your link name at http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/xraydio/meetingpres.shtml For the proceedings we prefer Latex and (encapsulated) postscript figures with the templates we supply, but we also accept Word documents prepared with our templates.

Uploading files can be done simply using the following UNIX steps (substitute [...] with something appropriate):

  1. cd [directory with your files]
  2. ftp ftp.aoc.nrao.edu
(to connect with ftp to our site)
  3. Log in with anonymous and your full email address
  4. bin
(always safe for binary and ascii files)
  5. cd incoming/xraydio
(to go to the xraydio incoming directory)
  6. mput [sjouwerman]*.*
(to put multilple files starting with your last name)
  7. dir
(to check whether your files are there and complete)
  8. bye
    (to exit ftp)
  9. Send an email to xraydio@aoc.nrao.edu to tell us your files are there, and which they are.
It is also helpful to know whether you made it on an Apple, Windows or Unix operating system.
