Subject: [Aips2-naug] .aipsrc variables for axis labels

Axis labels can now be turned on by default for viewing images, by
putting the following in ~/.aipsrc:


display.axislabels: on


You can also vary the initial character size with, e.g.:

display.axislabels.charsize: 1.0


These changes appear in the current build (i.e., only in daily, as yet).

The units for charsize are from pgplot, BTW.  They vary proportionally
with the panel size; 1.0 means that approx. 40 characters will fit
across the canvas.  Reasonable values are about 0.1 to 4.0; the default
is 1.2.  

There is an 'Axis Labels' rollup in the adjust panel for making
corrections to both of these parameters after bringing up the image. 
Unfortunately, only the character size of the main image labels can be
varied this way; the size labels for the colorbar (if any) will remain
at the .aipsrc (or default) value, at least for now.

There was also a request to be able to vary the overall viewer panel
size via .aipsrc as well, but this will probably have to be postponed
for a while.  The problem is that if a large size is specified,
apparently it cannot then be made smaller in a graceful way by manual
resizing of the window.  We are still looking into this; for details,
