From fowen@aoc.nrao.edu Wed Jun 27 15:45:59 2001 Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 15:22:46 -0600 (MDT) From: Frazer Owen To: aips2-naug@zia.aoc.NRAO.EDU Subject: 062701 NAUG meeting Summary of NAUG meeting 6-27-01 The regular meeting took place with the AOC and CV attending. We welcomed Mark Claussen as regular tester with an emphasis on spectral line processing. Greg Taylor reported an initial attempt to exercise the spectral line reduction system. He ran into a few problems and needed to review the results with Athol to be sure what his results meant. John Benson reported a successful end-to-end reduction of his continuum project. He also has further updated his documentation web site and could use some more input from people trying to use it. The consensus seems to be that basic continuum reduction now works, except for the MSPLOT raster flagging, which still needs some work before the group is willing to recommend outside people try to use it. Steve and Ed were both trying more difficult continuum problems. It was suggested that a demonstration by the AIPS++ group of the auto-flagging mode would be useful. The meeting ended with an extensive discussion on documentation. Frazer reported some efforts to use both the standard documentation and John Benson's version. He found it useful to use both versions together. Both can be improved. George reported on the beginning of his effort to rewrite the VLA reduction chapter in "Getting Results". Steve suggested a simple GUI to lead the user through the flow of the reduction process. Both Ed and Mark were planning feedback on their efforts to use the two existing calibration paths during the next month. The next meeting will be Wednesday, July 25, at 1:30 MDT, 12:30 MST, 3:30 EDT. FNO
