Testing AIPS++ Detailed Log April 12, 2000, session: key: TTT = trouble QQQ = question Did a reboot and restarted aips++. System is much more responsive now starting up in just 52 seconds. Logger window came up in the right size too. And X is only taking 11MB instead of the 30MB it had before reboot. Got some tips from Pat Murphy and discovered that my IDE controller card wasn't being properly recognized. Applied a patch to my 2.2.12 kernel from the manufacturer and now aips++ comes up in 30 seconds. Now continuing my efforts to make a visibility plot... Success! Got a u,v coverage plot and a visibility plot. Not sure what was going wrong before. QQQ> I see some blue points and some yellow ones. I'm guessing that these are different correlations (RR in blue, RL in yellow?). I read the help but I still don't know -- no information there about what is plotted. Eventually found the Setjy function (search function in the Tool manager is pretty nifty). After a couple tries this seems to have worked. TTT> minor bug in the one-line task description reads: "Compute the model visibility for a speci" kind of leaves the user in suspense. TTT> Also it took me a while to find the "GO" button since it was off the bottom of my screen. QQQ> Now I think I'm supposed to fun 'ft' to make the MODEL_DATA column. I found that tool but I'm not sure how to run it. I don't see how to tell it to use a point source model with the flux density I put (someplace) with 'setjy'. QQQ> Tried to do some editing. Couldn't get going, keep hitting a SEVERE ERROR "Illegal z axis corrected_amplitude" no matter how I set the Z axis. --- end of testing on April 12. Frustration meter reads: |*** | low high
