Astro-11 Fall 1998 Extra Credit

Last update: 10 December 1998

Many of you have asked for extra credit assignments to make up for missed homework, observations, or midterms. At the beginning of the course I pointed out that extra credit will normally increase your grade by at most one full letter grade, and that is still the case. Note that those who missed or performed poorly on midterms are best served by doing well on the final. That being said, there are several options for extra credit.

The easiest option is to do an extra lab, that is to do both the computer and web labs.

The next thing is for your team to make a web-page for the missions you propose for the Extrasolar Planet Mission Project. This is a team project so you should do this as a team.

You may also write a several page report on one of the current or upcoming NASA Planetary Exploration Missions. These should be fairly detailed, and useful for and interesting to an audience of your fellow class members. In fact, it should be submitted in electronic HTML format so that I can post it on the course web page. Thus, you will be expected to write intelligibly, have useful references and hypertext links. I can furnish you with an HTML page template to get you started. Possible topics include:

If you wish to do one of these email me to OK the project.

These must be handed in by the time of the final exam (15Dec98) to receive the credit.
