Upcoming Concerts and Plays in New Mexico

This is a list of links to various concert and theatrical series in New Mexico, mostly those which sound particularly interesting to me personally. This implies a strong bias towards classical, choral, and operatic music, plus whatever theatre I can find; there is also a significant prejudice towards venues easily reachable from Socorro.

Socorro, NM

New Mexico Tech's Performing Arts Series $0-$12 roughly biweekly late Aug-early May
Eclectic: music (jazz, Celtic, classical, folk, international), dance (mostly modern), performance art (juggling, science shows, etc.). An excellent and inexpensive series, esp. for such a small town.

Albuquerque, NM

Popejoy Hall: Ovation Series $9-$40 roughly weekly/biweekly late Sep-mid-April
UNM's main concert series. Modern music & dance, jazz, Broadway shows, and a few plays.
Musica Antigua de Albuquerque $12 roughly bimonthly Sep-July
Early classical choral and instrumental music: Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque.
New Mexico Symphony Orchestra $5-34 monthly Sep-May
Popular classical, pop, and Baroque music.
KiMo Theater ??? roughly monthly Oct-Apr
Theater, music, movies.
Opera Southwest ??? occasional Nov-May
Popular operas. Surprisingly good for its size.
Rodey Theater $10 roughly monthly Oct-May
UNM's theatrical department.

Placitas, NM

Placitas Artists Series ??? monthly Sep-May
Mostly classical chamber music.

Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe Opera $20-$118 nightly July & August
Opera from bel canto through modern, mostly 19th and 20th century works. A fantastic setting and the stagings and music are better every year; a bit pricey though.
Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival $36 nightly mid-July to mid-August
Mostly string and piano quartets with occasional woodwinds; mostly mainstream classical (18th-20th c.), plus a jazz series and a roughly weekly nod towards contemporary composers. I've not yet made it to any of their concerts.
