why use incr. instead of diff.?
Diff
    Good for paranoia.  multiple copies of same changed
    data.  better use different tapes for daily diffs.
    for large restores, only need one diff. set.
    
Incr
    Better use of tape.  more worried about cost.
    for large restores, may need multiple incr. sets
    Good for long spans between full dumps.

what about clones.
