I think the soffit boards on the house were original from the early 1970's. The facia board I had replaced around 2005 after the hail storm. But it was just regular pine boards, not primed or painted well so they had to go too. I started working under the cover of the deck and went around counter clockwise around the house. This might have been a mistake because it ment I was working on the south side of the house in the summer and the north side in the winter. Ah, well. Next time. I don't have squared eaves but simple rafter tails. In other words, the soffit boards aren't parallel to the ground but instead parallel to the roof deck. I though about squaring the eaves and also drilling holes in all the cavity blocks so I could have proper venting into the attic. That sounded like a shitload of work I didn't want to do and ice dams don't happen that often in Socorro. At least that is how I have rationalized to myself.
I started on the west side because the deck roof provided some shade and was the back yard. So if I really screwed it up, people wouldn't see it :^).
Now that I had worked out the process, it was wash, rinse, and repeat around the house. This side was tricky because of all the stuff in the way.

This side probably took the most work because it has the most area to cover. Apparently there was some very healthy vines growing in the front of the house that made it through the eaves and even into the attic in some places. This was gone when I moved in so I don't know how old this is.

Here we are now going to the north side. I thought I took pictures of the work but I can't find any. So, I can't be sure when I did the work, but I think I started about Oct. or Nov. 2018 and worked slowly because it was winter and the north side. So here are some pictures now that everything is finished.

So there is a small eave on the west side. It's the back part of the converted garage. I left this for last because it was so small I thought I would have some leftover cuts I could use.
