I add a course (TCCtest4) and I want to specify a scpecific primary designer (kscott). So I then use add_design.pl link kscott TCCtest4 . Now, the TCCtest4 course is in the kscott's my WebCT listing, and according to get_user_globalid.pl TCCtest4, kscott is the primary designer. When I login to my WebCT as kscott, I see the TCCtest4 course. When I click on it, it takes me to the my WebCT:setup page. Since kscott already has a my WebCT setup, I click on Yes. I am prompted for a user ID and a password. I give it kscott and kscott's password, and click on Validate Passwords, and I get the error Error: Course has already been added - Couldn't add course TCCtest4 to course list.
If I do not use add_design.pl, but click on Add Course from the my WebCT page, I can set myself up as the primary designer just fine. But there should be a way that the administrator can do this, especially a simple script-level way. Of course I don't think administration was ever a concern in the design of WebCT.
Using change_designer.pl produces the same situation as useing add_design.pl.
