ABSTRACT: We report the cold matter distribution in the Galactic Center region. We measured the column density of X-ray binaries in the region using the X-ray satellite ASCA, and derive the total mass and distribution of the cold matter in this region. The column densities are given by a smooth function of the angular distance from the Galactic Plane. Assuming a disk-like mass distribution with 500 pc radius, we estimate the total mass to be ~ 6* 107 M_o. Together with other wavelength results, we discuss the physical conditions of the cold matter in the Galactic Center region.
