Use Case: Publish and Archive Calibration Results

This Use Case describes how the Calibrations Results are dealt with after the calibration is processed.

Role(s)/Actor(s):
Primary: Control System, Observer
Secondary: Quick Look Pipeline, Archive, Executive, Operator.

Priority: Major

Performance: from seconds (such as pointing/focus measurements) to minutes for array calibrations (baseline, pointing model).

Frequency: from seconds to minutes

Preconditions:

  1. A Calibration (obtained from a single scans or multiple scans) has been performed.
  2. The scans have been individually processed,
  3. The scan results have been processed if needed;
  4. The final calibration results are present in memory.

Basic Course:

  1. The System publishes the results (as described in the calibration-specific Use Case), using ACS services.
    Alternate Course: Off-line execution.
  2. The System publishes an Event (ScanReducedEvent), for the Control System to use the results.
  3. The System sends the results to the Archive (FITS table?).

Alternate Course: Off-line execution

  1. The results are displayed to the Observer.
  2. The results are locally archived in one or several FITS tables.

Postconditions:

  1. The results are available for the ALMA system (Control System and/or Quick Look Pipeline), or to the observer in the case of off-line processing.

Issues to be Determined or Resolved:

  1. is FITS OK for the results format?
