Phase error effect scales with fraction of radian
- Eg: 6? phase error as bad as 10% amp error
- Worst calibration errors are usually in phase
Small systematic errors have big effect
- Closure errors don’t self-cal and are often constant on baseline
- Only reduced in image by about square root of number of independent errors
A few mildly bad points have little effect
Small uncorrelated errors have little effect
