Notes from the meeting of March 19. B. Sahr has produced a document surveying known operating systems for the TriCore device. He considers the most viable candidates to be - Nucleus PLUS by Accelerated Technology Inc. http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com/ATI/nucleus.php - ThreadX by Express Logic http://www.expresslogic.com - vxWorks by Wind River - JBed by Esmertec http://www.esmertec.com He will pursue the first two, with an intent of having a sufficient report by April 2. B. Clark will look into vxWorks. K. Ryan will pursue JBed (or other java oriented systems). W. Koski asked whether the approach the group has in mind, of running technician screens within the MIB, is really better than having the MIB serve only a communication function. K. Ryan answered that he believes that software modularization is best served by this technique. B. Clark said it is attractive to have devices be more-or-less standalone systems, although there may be problems with security, since the MIB operating system will probably not enforce security. K. Ryan has borrowed a monoboard computer upon which to demonstrate the JBed operating system - not yet running, but close. B. Rowen attended the Real-Time convention and show last week, and has handout literature on many of the OS candidates. In particular, he is arranging evaluation copies of the ATI tools.
