Minutes from SSS Mtg 2008-Jun-10

Attendees: B.Butler,    D.Harland,  B.Hesman,
           G.v.Moorsel, J.Rochford, B.Truitt

We kept this meeting short in order to accommodate those who
wanted to attend the summer school sessions.

The programmers pointed out only a few of the newer items
in the tools. In the source catalog tool:

  * Reorganization of the source-detail-tabs.

  * Ability to add hyperlinks to a source.

  * ATCA catalog.

  * GIF files in VLBA catalog.

You can use JIRA to filter on issues that were recently
updated. Example at bottom of this note.

Some comments from scientists:

  1. VLA calibrator quality: place in the user-defined value (UDV)
     area to accommodate searches. Also keep it as is in the notes area.
     [New JIRA issue: EVL-635]

  2. Users need to know how to interpret the VLA quality codes.
     We should have a link to the explanation of calibrator codes.
     [New JIRA issue: EVL-636]

  3. Give higher priority to searching for sources.
     [JIRA EVL-300]

  4. Should we disallow grouping for user catalogs? Issue is the
     confusion over relationship between catalogs, groups, and items.
     (A Catalog hold items. A group holds pointers to items in its catalog.)
     Conclusion: leave as is for now. When we get more people using the
     tool we'll see if we have a problem or not.
     [New JIRA issue: EVL-637]

  5. Should we highlight newly pasted items in a catalog?
     [New JIRA issue: EVL-638]

  6. The programmers have permission to proceed with the restriction
     that an individual scan may have an end time, a duration, or a
     time-on-source, but not a start time. (Remember that the scheduling
     block holding the scans may use a start time, if it is a "fixed date" SB.)

June 30 - make go/no-go decision for using new OPT for Ka-band call.
If the choice is "go", then we can get others involved in testing.
Pool could be AOC, all NRAO, users' committee.

Brian T. will be out next week.

On the left side of the JIRA Dashboard there is a section that has pre-made filters that are convenient for finding newly added, changed, or resolved issues.
