Minutes from SSS Mtg 2008-Jan-08 Attendees: B.Butler, D.Harland, B. Hesman, F.Owen, J.Rochford, M.Rupen, L.Sjouwerman, B.Truitt, S.Witz * Michael & David discussed the highlights of the week-of-work with the WIDAR folks. + SSS software will have to know more about the internals of the correlator than we had originally hoped. + We will have a weekly teleconference with Penticton that will focus on VCI. - VCI = Virtual Correlator Interface. It is a communications protocol defined in XML. NRAO software will create XML messages that conform to the VCI and send those messages to a Configuration Mapper (CM). The CM will interpret the VCI messages and configure the correlator accordingly. * David explained the SSS goals for 2008 Q1 and will send them to all attendees. * The group looked briefly at the new tree-view version of the OPT. * The group discussed how the scientists can help us meet our Q1 goal of producing a working observation script via the OPT. + David suggested that scientists try to use the OPT to set up a Ka band observation and make note of where their efforts were frustrated by the tool. (Remember that there is no hardware configuration available yet.) + Lorant will craft use cases for setting up some simple scans and give to SSS. SSS will also receive (from Bryan?) scripts that match those use cases. SSS would then be have targets at which to aim. + David will send a link to the test version of the OPT.
