Minutes from SSS Mtg 2007-Dec-04 (This text file was constructed on 2008-Jan-08 from notes taken at the time of the meeting in my engineering notebook.) Attendees: D.Harland, B.Hesman, F.Owen, B.Truitt, S.Witz Entire meeting was on topic of hardware configuration. Frazer: * We will need to have preset standard configurations that users can select. * Some users do not need to see the basebands at all. We should hide these by default and display them only when someone wants to see them. * User interface needs to be layered. Don't show all the information all at once. * UI needs to look simpler [than the diagrams projected during mtg]. * We will have default spectral line modes. Brigette: * Hide details until they are needed. * Spectral lines: user should be able to select from catalog, in addition to specifying directly. * Mousing over graphical regions (eg, individual spectral line) should cause information about that region to be displayed. Frazer: * Let user specify spectral lines and have the system figure out the placement of subbands. * Not in favor of showing the 128MHz boundaries up front. * Should present user with only one frequency window at first. The individual baseband windows would be shown only if action is taken by user. * Consider the color-blind in UI. * Observatory could accept a much more primitive tool for hardware set up initially with expectation of more advanced features added over time.
