First announcment:
The twenty-seventh annual New Mexico Symposium will occur on 2011 October 14 The Symposium will be hosted by NRAO and NM Tech, at the Science Operations Center in Socorro. We expect to fill a full-day schedule with oral and poster presentations, from about 09:00 through 17:30.

The forty-sixth annual Karl G. Jansky Lecture will be given by Dr. Sander Weinreb after the symposium dinner. He will speak on "Radio Astronomy from Jansky to the Future - An Engineer's Point of View". NRAO will host a dinner for registered participants between the end of the Symposium and the lecture.

Astronomers from New Mexico and surrounding states are invited to attend the Symposium and, if they wish, to present a paper. We particularly encourage students and young astronomers to use the Symposium as a forum to present ongoing astronomical research. We can accommodate approximately 19 oral presentations and a large number of posters.

There will be no registration fee, but anyone planning to attend is asked to register, to facilitate our planning. The registration deadline is October 5.

The meeting web page can be found at: http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/nmsymposium/2011/. In addition to a link to the registration form, it also includes details about oral and poster presentations, the Jansky Lecture, and local information.

Please distribute this announcement at your institution, to reach as wide an audience as possible. If you are interested in attending, and you did not receive this message by direct e-mail, we would be glad to add your email address to our list. E-mail addresses, and requests for further information, should be sent to Lori Appel.
