To: Southwest Astronomers From: Mark Claussen Date: August 13, 2004 Subject: First announcement --- 20th Annual New Mexico Symposium On Wednesday, November 10, 2004, NRAO will host the twentieth annual New Mexico Symposium in Socorro at the NRAO Array Operation Center. The symposium will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish by 5:30 p.m. The symposium will be followed by a dinner for registered meeting participants and, at 8:00 p.m. the Jansky Lecture by Professor Ron Ekers, Federation Fellow at the Australia Telescope National Facility. We invite all astronomers from New Mexico and surrounding states to attend this symposium and present a paper. In particular, we want to encourage students and young astronomers to use the New Mexico Symposium as a forum to present their ongoing astronomy research. There is no registration fee. We will have time for approximately 15 oral presentations in a format with ten minute presentations and five minute discussions. We will also be able to accommodate about 20 poster presentations. Please distribute this announcement at your institution so that it reaches a wide audience. We will request information from potential attendees, and open a web page in our second announcement.
