SUBJECT: 15th Annual New Mexico Symposium -- 2nd Announcement.

        On Saturday, October 30, 1999, the fifteenth annual New Mexico
Symposium will be held in Socorro at the NRAO Array Operations Center.
The symposium will start at 9:00 AM and finish before 5:30 PM.

        We invite all astronomers from New Mexico and surrounding states to
attend this symposium and to present a paper.  We especially encourage 
students and postdocs to present papers.  There is no charge for
registration for this symposium.

        At the Symposium, we will have time for roughly 20 oral
presentations in a format with ten minutes presentation and five minute
discussion.  We will also have room to accommodate at least 20 poster
presentations.  If you prefer to present a poster, please so indicate on
your response.

        In the evening, Frank Drake, Research Professor at the University 
of California, Santa Cruz and President of the SETI Institute, will deliver 
the 1999 Jansky Lecture.  He will speak on "Progress in the Search 
for Extraterrestrial Intelligence". This free lecture will start at 8:00 pm.  
The general public is encouraged to attend. The lecture will be in the 
Macey Center. 

        Please fill out the information requested below as soon as
possible, but no later than October 8, 1999. Our mailing list of local
astronomers is undoubtedly incomplete, so please circulate this
invitation to your colleagues.  If you have any special requirements for
your presentation, or any questions about the symposium, contact me at
