  From Albuquerque airport to Socorro

  1. Leave airport on Sunport Blvd. -- stay to your left on the exiting lane of the parking lot; you will then be heading West. Sunport Blvd. isn't on the Web map, but there are obvious signs posted at the airport.
  2. Cross over the bridge and turn left at the stop sign -- this will put you on I-25 going South.
  or
  1. Leave airport on Yale Blvd, which will get you heading North (you have no choice on this).
  2. The second stoplight on Yale will be Gibson Blvd. Turn left (West).
  3. After a few blocks, you'll see I-25. Take it going South (a left turn).
  Finally,
  4. When you see the exit for Socorro (exit 150), take it. This will put you on California Avenue, the main street in town, going South.

  Socorro is about 75 miles south of Albuquerque, and the trip should take a little over an hour.

  From Las Cruces to Socorro

  1. Take I-25 north from Las Cruces, and take either the first (exit 147) or second (exit 150) exit for Socorro. Exit 147 will put you on California Avenue going North; exit 150 will put you on California Avenue going South.

  Socorro is about 150 miles North of Las Cruces, and the trip should take somewhat over 2 hours.

  Finding the Motels in Socorro

  Three of the conference motels are on California Avenue, the main street in town; the fourth is just off that street, but easily visible from it. Both I-25 exits to Socorro leave you on California, so the motels should be easy to find.

  1. Econo Lodge 713 N. California Ave. (505) 835-1500
     Econo Lodge is located on the West side of California, South of College Road (which has a stoplight) and adjacent to (North of) El Camino Real.
  2. Holiday Inn Express 1100 N. California Ave. (505) 838-0556, or (888) 526-4567
     Holiday Inn is located on the East side of California, at the very North end of town, just South of McDonald's and I-25's exit 150.
  3. Payless Inn 1009 N. California Ave. (505) 835-0276
     Formerly known as the Vagabond Motel (and so marked on our Web map), Payless is located on the West side of California, just North of Bullock and Taco Bell.
  4. Super 8 Motel 1121 Frontage Road (505) 835-4626
     To get to the Super 8, it's easiest to take the Northern Socorro exit off I-25 (exit 150). Then take a right (West) at the very first stoplight, onto Frontage Road; the Super 8 will be almost immediately on your left after the turn. If you pass K-Bob's you've gone too far.
     If you end up taking the Southern Socorro exit (147), it's still very easy. Just stay on California all the way North and turn left onto Frontage Road at the last stoplight in town, just past the McDonald's and the Holiday Inn. Again the Super 8 will be almost immediately on your left after the turn.
