Submillimeter Astronomy: Looking to the Future

Our ability to survey the Universe at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths has improved exponentially over the past five decades, at a rate faster than Moore's Law. If this trend continues, megapixel submillimeter array cameras will be operating on telescopes by the mid-2020s. I will discuss two efforts aimed at this goal: 1) the development of large format, inexpensive superconducting detector arrays, to be used on 2) CCAT, a 25m wide-field submillimeter telescope.
