I will discuss the current status of planning for the SKA resulting in part, from a series of recent meetings in Manchester, UK. I will include a review of the science drivers, the technical challenges, the current design specifications, cost and technical tradeoffs, the project organization, SKA pathfinders, the SKA development programs underway in Europe and the US, and operational issues.
