New Frontiers in the Synthesis of the Elements

The production of heavy elements in stars is central to fields of astronomy from meteoritics to the assembly histories of galaxies. I will discuss the uncertainties in present estimates of nucleosynthetic yields, which are quite large, and the insights gained from 3D modeling of supernova explosions and stellar interiors.
