The human-generated documents developed by the software group are maintained in a CVS respository at /home/asg/cvsroot. The documents are arranged hierarchically by project starting with NRAO at the top. So the documents associated with the top-level EVLA System design would reside at: nrao/evla/design. To access these documents from a local NRAO machine: 1) On your workstation set the environment variable CVSROOT to /home/asg/cvsroot > setenv CVSROOT /home/asg/cvsroot or > export CVSROOT=/home/asg/cvsroot 2) In a working directory on your workstation: > cvs co nrao/evla/design This will checkout (co) all the documents in the design sub- directory. To access these documents from an offsite machine: 1) Set up your local CVS remote access method to use SSH. > setenv CVS_RSH ssh or > export CVS_RSH=ssh 2) Set up your CVSROOT to point to the remote cvsroot. (Note: you must have SSH access (i.e. a valid user account) on an NRAO machine that has filehost:/home/asg mounted.) > setenv CVSROOT :ext:username@host:/home/asg/cvsroot or > export CVSROOT=:ext:username@host:/home/asg/cvsroot 3) In a working directory on your local machine: > cvs co nrao/evla/design It will ask you for your NRAO user account password before proceeding and then will checkout (co) all the documents in the design sub-directory.
