    And speaking of Days,
the weeks of my journey have now turned to months, and now even years, and for those of you wondering if ET is still circling Raleigh, the answer is definitely maybe but I headed for Missouri Bonanzas for awhile. Then I entered The MAZE. The Mize. The Moze.
And from The Mose there's no return.

AND NOW, with No More Than 3 Pickup Loads of BS mixed in, Here are the names and numbers which make this page quite Priceless...
Generally, in this file, CLICKING A NAME Next To a MAIN-SEQUENCE NUMBERED DESIGNATOR will LINK to the PREVIOUS Generation.
CHILDREN NAMES which are also Links will LINK the OPPOSITE WAY and to a place where, generally, more information
is available. The BROWSER SEARCH feature, possibly needless to say, may also prove useful.
Something else--whenever you see "This Person, b. 1832 TN TN TN," this means Person was born in TN,
their father was born in TN, and their mother was born in TN (in that order). Early on I wasn't doing this, to my later chagrin.

    Map of Alamogordo, New Mexico
Strange place to put a map. People will link from here to Timbuktu tu see this map. They are going to end up here, and there will be all kinds of reactions, that's a guarantee.
Life looks so simple looking at that map, c. 1960, of Alamogordo. A nicely planned model city. The Rocket City.

---------My Uncle Ralph Stephenson produced the deed of land where Lewis Stunston transfers land to "my

---------Lewis Stunston was a...landowner...who fathered a female child who happened to marry Mack Stephenson.
---------My Uncle Ralph wrote that we cannot pick our ancestors, as anyone who plays This Family Game knows well.
---------He wrote of Lewis Stunston "...he the rich landowner, she the impecunious child." There was something he resented

---------This is nextdoor to Joseph Morgan Scott's place in 1900, btw.
---------Thomas Hardy's parents were born in Ireland, he was born in KY, son John born in TX.
---------Thomas Hardy was noted as landlord in 1900, John as Cattle Dealer. Thomas was Lampasas County Sheriff 1856-1858.
---------Josephine Jackson Hardy is buried in Chadwick Cemetery, so is John T. Hardy,
---------so is Emily Frances Jackson and her husband John J. Scott, and so is John T. Hardy, for that matter,
    ---------and some of his descendants.
---------Is it coincidence that John T. Hardy's initials are the same as Josephine's first husband?
---------This is one of those places where I go...Josephine's first husband's name musta been John.

    ---------ABOUT Josephine:
---------1) RAN HOTEL after death of 1st husband, "She did good with this hotel." Where?--I think it was the hotel at the once popular
---------tourist attraction at Chadwick, TX, where there once was a mill of some renown, with a limestone-chiseled fish race for which
---------people would sometimes wait days to take their turn at. The flood of 1915 changed the course of the Colorado River and the
---------mill and the community died. There remains a marker and a cemetery. Remarkably, here has even been A Vision.
----------I believe this is the hotel referenced HERE. A Texas Marker noted at The Handbook of Texas On Line.
---------2) bought land on Colorado River, mjb owns painting of "House on Red Bluffs"
---------3) Allegedly, there was some "funny business" concerning the disposition of Sally's will, i.e.,
---------some unnamed Scotts, among them, presumably, my grandfather, Earnest M. Scott (Josephine's grandson), were
---------mentioned in a will and never notified. Also allegedly, this News was shrugged off, so it's water through Chadwick Mill
    ---------at this point.
---------1) the 1870 Census notes TS Hardy as being a Dry Goods Merchant but in parenthesis is marked (Ret) above his name
---------2) Both Josephine and "Emly" are noted as "W" or "White" in the 1870 Census, casting doubt on the Native Americanedness
---------of my g grandmother Emily Francis Jackson Scott
---------3) Both Josephine's parents are noted as being from TN.
---------ONLY ONE child was specified Sally's San Saba obituary, but "OTHER" children were noted. Mentioned.

---------Anditisthis and theyaretwo: #1: Who was the busdriver's editor in the identification process? lol.
---------And #2. If #6 in this pic is Bobbie Millican, then the girl to the right of Joe Millican has to be Zib Millican.
---------Because looking at her, there is no doubt in my mind she is Mose and Joe's sister and Bobbie's sister.
---------Inset are Bobbie (known) and Zib.
---------Additionally, I'll add, before seeing this the words "Brush Arbor" were words I couldn't really before comprehend.
---------The Earliest Pic of WW and Mary Frances Millican's family.
---------Back row, l to r, Mose, William Jesse, Evie, Joe, Miles. Front, l to r, Bobbie, W.W., Zoe, Mary Frances, Jimmie K., Zib
---------WW is in this Thrashing Pic from 1900 along with his sons Mose and Joe and several Brazil, Gage, and Stafford cousins.
---------l to r, Mary Frances, WW and Zoe Millican, Daphene, Frances, and Jimmie K. Hillin
---------The back of the pic states this was WW's "new" house.
---------WW and Mary Frances' kids, later-on.

---------This is the Very Latest: It appears WW was married once before Mary Frances Brazil, that was to Susan M. Hoeflin West
---------(S.M. in 1860 Census) in 1861 in Cherokee County. She was the widowed daughter-in-law of Walter West and wife
---------Patience Piety Burnett/Barnett West, who came to Cherokee County in 1860 from Lauderdale, AL. !!
    ---------Susan had 4 children at this time--R.C. (m), S.A. (f), J.C. (m), and T.J. (m), ages 11, 9, 3, and 1 as recorded in the 1860
---------Cherokee, TX Census, and they were all living with Walter West in 1860.
---------So it appears that Susan was widowed around 1859.
---------William R. West was widow Susan's brother-in-law when she first arrived in Cherokee, TX.
---------William R. West was in WW's CSA Unit, the 18th Texas Infantry, and was killed in 1862, leaving a widow who later
---------married Zebulon Spruiell, which family later lived in San Saba County.
---------In 1860 Walter West, William R.'s father, is living nextdoor to Ransom Edward Rainwater,
---------who was also in the Texas 18th Infantry, and who "disappeared" after The War, according to Randy's Texas.
---------A letter from G.W. Henderson, July 8, 1862, describes "Rainwaters" as being very sick, so R.E. probably died sometime
    ---------shortly after that.
---------Walter's Daughter Sarah (Fanny) West m1. Joseph Minafee and m2.Thomas A. Lindsay.
---------Daughter Petress Piety West m. Van Buren Henderson in Cherokee Co.
---------"Would like to know when and where these people lived and died after getting to Texas," so said Linda Smith in 1999 on the
---------Cherokee County Rootsweb site. (Two of WW Millican's sons married West girls, Bertha and Polly, and I
---------have not yet established a connection between these Wests, if any, although I believe it is only a matter of
    ---------Time.)

---------Since I have been searching for the father of William W. Millican, or W.W., as appears on his and M.F.'s
---------headstone, I note that it has been repeatedly stated that WW Millican was born on October 14, 1828, and infact,
---------this date is there inscribed. Astoundingly, there is another marker on his grave with another birth date, a Confederate
---------States ARmy marker which very clearly reads October 14, 1842.
---------So I now understand from where the bogus reference to the East Feliciana Parrish, Louisiana William Watson Millican
---------derives. This reference is included in Volume II of the San Saba County History 1856-2001.

    ---------I think Somebody in the Confederate STates...Registrar's Office...done made a misTake. !!
---------And they made it A LONG TIME AGO! I'm just really going to have to think about all this.
---------After cracking open the SSCH 1856-2001 book again, I note that in 1962 Some Wimmen in Texas
---------decided it would be a good thing to mark all known Confederate soldiers' graves with markers to commemorate
---------the Centennial of the Civil War. I'll tell ya, there's not much doubt in my mind this was were this bogus
---------Louisiana reference comes from. Their intentions were good, it was nice of them to do that,
---------but by doing so, they have almost impossibly, and perhaps irrevocably, confused things.
---------"It's right there on the marker," that's what anyone might say. Both dates are wrong. That's the way things are.

---------In 1880 William's age is listed as 44, making his birth year as c1836. I have seen the Enhanced Viewer of Ancestry.com
---------and the number is VERY clearly 44. The William listed in the Fayette, TN Census for 1850 was born c1837,
---------which time and again I have come to find out is the previous year: i.e. his age was listed as 13, meaning c1837, but
---------this could EASily mean 1836. Like October 14, 1836 maybe.
---------The PROBLEM with this is that this James was born in Tennessee and so was his wife Amanda--in repeated Censuses
---------it has been stated that BOTH of William Watson's parents were born in Alabama.
---------These things have been interesting along the way. The Alabama reference was...just wrong.
---------Without any doubt at all, William Watson Millican came from Fayette, TN.
---------His mamma claims she was born in TN several times. Not that I would bet the house on it.

---------DubyaDubya 04, the original: here with Mary Frances
---------Married in Fayette, TX, WW died 14 7 1913; Confederate Veteran, but NOT Louisiana Infantry, 27th Regiment, Co. A
---------Immeasurable Thanks due Lynn Blankenship, San Saba Rootsweb Volunteer. It was pre-Ordained that I
---------see W.W.'s and Mary Frances' WHOle family On Their Porch before I die.

---------W.W.'s Confederate Service Record, as noted in San Saba History 1856-2001 Volume II , is erroneous.
---------It leads "directly" to this admittedly astonishing reference to a William Watson Millican,
---------his wife, and 4 children, all of whom were born in East Feliciana Parish, LA, born over a span from 1883 to c. 1900.
    ---------This is just inconceivable.
---------Here is the Lousiana Infantry, 27th Regiment, Company A William Watson Millican, born in LA in 1838.
---------The Hunter Rifles, East Feliciana Parish, WW likely William Watson, and J. likely Joseph.
---------Here is the 1850 census for East Feliciana Parish Louisiana. As you can see,
---------William Watson Millican now has a father--William B., and mother unknown. Agrees with Louisiana 27th Stuff.
---------ALL THIS WOULD BE FINE AND GOOD, but in a biographical article in The San Saba News on W.J. Millican
---------on October 17, 1946, Bill states that his father was born in TN.
---------Additionally, on both the 1880 and 1900 census it Clearly States that William W. was born in TN and that both
---------his parents were both born in AL.
---------And not insignificantly the LA W.W. was born in 1838, which is not October, 1833 nor is it 1828.

---------Census Image 1880, so you tell me when WW was born!!
---------You couldn't tell much from that, but here it is, very clearly: Age 44=Born 1836. This is William's and Mary Frances' info in 1880.
---------So William's from TN, both parents born in Alabama, that's what he stated in 1880.
---------Mary's father born in Illinois, Mother in AR
---------All the kids were born in Texas, Mose and all subsequent children born in Chappel, TX
---------A connection between the above link and the following: The Matsler Fambly.
---------The Matsler family is next to the W.W. Millicans in the 1880 census, and of course, the 1910 Census.
---------They are also one of the founding families of the San Saba Camp Meeting and the following link
---------explains this particular San Saba County Historical Marker:
---------Camp Meeting Story, mentions W.W. Millican, E.E. West, and astonishingly, a Keeney.
---------l to r W.J., Mose, Aunt Bob, Jim, Zib, and Zoe, thank you Jason and Elsie Millican!!!

---------------the River Bend Farm living room. So, in the 1980's the place was on the Christmas Tour in San Saba, yes a long
---------------ways but another new home in that area was displayed along the way. The place is now owned by William Boyd

---------------I own William Jesse's violin, which is today broken but repairable. An accident in 1965.
---------------Andso, the violin became the road not taken. It had become an option. For a long time I was First Chair Violin, Orchestra.
---------------Admittedly, it didn't much go with who I thought I was at the time. I did The Violin Proud though.
---------------My Violin, and allegedly Felix, but I don't really believe that's Felix. But I know it's my violin. hahaha
---------------Bill used to play fiddle every Friday and Saturday Night in Lampasas in the Saloon and also at

---------------Bill Millican was one of the Charter Members and a Past President of the Texas Pecan Growers Association--
---------------pictures, descriptions and accounts in 1990s book "The Pecan".
---------------He bred, started, and grafted and grew thousands of pecan trees in San Saba County,
---------------his name forever attached to the Pecan Varieties Clark and Cherokee, the only Millican to enjoy
    ---------------such a distinction.
---------------William Jesse's River Bend Farm eventually included Miles Millican's land.
---------------Gimlet's 55+ years stint as a weekly rural correspondent for the San Saba Star/News may well

    ---------------And Again!

---------------The following "paragraph" or 6 were just moved here, they're pending blending. They're about Bill and Polly Ann Millican.

    ---------------One of the founders and a Past President of the Texas Pecan Growers Association;
---------------Bend Methodist Sunday School Superintendent for *ever.
---------------Bill's son-in-law, my Grandfather, E.M. Scott, invented the Pecan Huller, hulled San Saba County Pecans for a penny a pound.
---------------And in turn, Uncle Ted invented the Pecan Picker--Ted Burnham made em right there in San Saba,
---------------and Shipped Em Worldwide. Burnham Pickers as far as Australia, yessirree, Mate!!
---------------Ted's brother Jack worked with Ted during this time and helped Ted in the development of the different machinery
---------------they used in the pecan harvesting process.
---------------All the trees my folks grew in Alamogordo, NM either came from or were budded from San Saba trees.
---------------And all my pecan trees were Volunteers from my folks' trees.
---------------So despite my "living in a foreign land" I have Lived San Saba Pecans all my life.

---------------Yessir. I grow bout 20 Pecan Trees here in Socorro, New Mexico, Rio Grande Valley. As Good As It Gets in NM.
---------------ALL of them have a San Saba Connection of one sort or another.
---------------They just grew, and some Lucky Dog like E.E. Risien came along and enjoyed em!!

---------------Aletha, yes, the little tree got a name.
---------------Steve and Aletha, Big Trees, Forever Together!!

---------------William Jesse is the only Millican whose name is actually attached to a *notable* surviving pecan
---------------cultivar, that being Clark--there are less than a hundred varieties on the TAMU list:
---------------'Clark'--"Native selection made by W. J. Millican, from the San Saba River near Bend, San Saba, TX.
---------------Edmond E. Risien's name, it should be noted, is forever attached to most of the
---------------rest of the varieties on the list. Not really, but maybe a dozen or so. Among them are
---------------Western, the most popular pecan tree on the planet, 'Texas Prolific' ('Sovereign'), Tejas,
---------------Squirrel's Delight (Squirrel), and San Saba.
---------------A most appropriate offspring of 'Clark' is 'Cherokee'. As in Cherokee Creek, need I say more, no.
---------------Amazingly enuf, 100 years later, descendants of Mose Millican are still doing pecans in San Saba, Pecan Capital Of The World.
---------------Good luck typing "pecan" on a Google Search and not getting a hit on a Millican pecan business!
